Site Architecture

Many small businesses today have seen their target audience’s behavior shift toward using the web for communicating (email), getting news (web), and performing pre-shopping research (Google). You may be tempted to think that if potential customers want information about your products and services, they will call your company and ask to speak with a sales rep. But that’s not the case anymore – instead, they will probably go to the web and either do a Google search, or go directly to your web site to find the information they need before making a purchase.

Today’s consumers rely on the web like never before, which means your business must adjust to that reality and meet your customers where they are already looking for you – on the web and in the search engines.

You’ve probably already heard that it takes a visitor all of 4 seconds to decide if your web site is worth their time or not. This means that the first impression of your web site instantly conveys information about the quality of your business and its value to visitors – all in 4 seconds. Make sure your site is an accurate representation of your business and has an attractive, updated design, lots of quality content, a clear, consistent navigation system, and at least some interactive features (like blogs, event calendars, video, etc.) to show that your business is relevant and understands what today’s users need and expect from a web site. If your web site is old, outdated, or amateurish, then guess what visitors will remember about your business – make sure you invest in a web site that gives visitors the right message about your business and meets today’s user expectations.

Nearly 80% of consumers use search engines to find information before they make a purchase (online or off-line). Showing up in the search results can give your business a steady supply of new prospects and potential customers who are often pre-qualified and ready to buy. Good search engine rankings also contribute to higher visibility for your business, since showing up at the top gives your business added exposure every time someone searches for your keywords. Top search engine rankings can also help your business build credibility and brand recognition, so if your site is not showing up at the top, you could be missing out on additional benefits that could help you reach more customers and gain additional exposure online.

In order to stay fresh in your customers’ minds, you need to regularly remind them about your business. By using email campaigns and e-newsletters, you can communicate with your customers regularly with any number of marketing messages, special offers, or new information that helps build loyalty and improve customer retention rates. In the case of e-newsletters, you can also re-purpose the articles and add them to your web site as new content, which gives both visitors and search engines a reason to keep coming back to your site.

No longer is it enough to have a “brochure-ware” web site where the information is all one-way, like reading a brochure. If you want your message to resonate with your customers, you need to offer them ways to interact with your business online. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a company blog, since it gives users a way to become part of the ongoing conversation about your business and gives them more power over their experience. Other interactive features like surveys, online videos, and podcasts can help position your business as a trusted resource for customers, helping to build trust and customer loyalty for your business and your brand.

Of course, after investing so much time, energy, and marketing budget into matching your customers’ expectations and behavior, you will need to put a plan in place to keep everything going. Make sure you have set aside staff (or your own time) to keep your blog updated, and add new, useful content to your web site as often as you can. Set up an e-newsletter schedule that customers can depend on, and take advantage of low-cost email marketing campaigns to send out special discounts or coupons directly to your customers’ inboxes. Track and monitor your positions in the search engines every month, and make any necessary adjustments if you see your results slip.

It may take some new thinking to make your marketing plan match your customers’ changing behavior, but the results can be well worth the effort. Once you understand how your customers are using the web and what they expect today, you can implement the marketing strategies that will help you reach them more effectively and communicate better with them. Matching your marketing efforts with customer behavior can ultimately help you improve your marketing results, deliver your message more effectively, and spend marketing dollars on the initiatives that work the best.

Controversial video sharing

fitna the movie

Just visit Detik and found in some Indonesian Forum, talking about another controversial sharing movie in YouTube and LiveLeak. Anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders released the film over the Internet late Thursday after publicizing its release for months. Mostly Muslim Indonesia has strongly condemned a film by a Dutch lawmaker that is critical of Islam, saying Friday that it was misleading and would hurt efforts at interfaith dialogue. The Dutch government had warned Wilders that the film could spark a violent backlash in the Islamic world similar to the one that occurred two years ago following publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The 15-minute film intersperses verses from the Quran that apparently condone attacks on non-Muslims with bloody scenes of recent terrorist attacks and hateful speeches by extremists. Indonesia is the world’s most populous Muslim nation. It saw large, mostly peaceful protests against the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Reaction to the Muhammad cartoons was muted compared to other Muslim nations.

Until recently testking was only involved in preparation material of 350-018 and 70-297. Now it will be conducting 640-816 as well as 156-215

Jump position while Government banning online p0rn

seocontest2008 positionYesterday my blog still so far away from a position called better :) Just check it out, surprise, I am already in 12th.So, what is relationship between this blog and online porn ? Nothing! Just would like to inform that Indonesia Government via The House of Representatives is set to pass a bill today that would jail users and providers of pornographic websites, despite fears the legislation could victimize receivers of unsolicited email containing adult content. When the bill comes into effect, providers and users of pornographic sites will face a maximum of three years in prison or a fine of up to Rp 1 billion (around US$107 million). Uhmmm …

The Information and Communications Ministry has made available software to block websites with adult content. The software can be downloaded from the ministry’s website. (Do you smell something here ? It is a big project with a lot of expense !)

It also includes provisions criminalizing computer hackers and any activities that use others’ Internet domains or change and delete information on certain sites.

Police are entitled to confiscate evidence from people suspected of violating the law, including their computers.

Those violating the provisions will face a maximum eight years in jail or a fine of up to Rp 2 billion.

Legislators said the bill was necessary to prevent Internet abuse and help meet the public demand for goods and services bought electronically. It will also help secure the trust of foreign investors and generate more inter-market transactions.

Would it kill our freedom ? Stop writing something harm your self in your blog if you don’t wanna go to jail or spend your money worthless.

No update this week due to sandbox

Yes, I am currently busy with so many worthless things. Just check this blog regularly that I though just escape from sandbox few days ago. Even that I am still too lazy to have a new post. Does the sandbox really exist ? Despite some differences in terminology, the sandbox as an abstraction for a specific sum of parts in Google’s larger algorithm is almost certainly existent.

Sites most affected by the sandbox effect usually appear to fit one or more of the following key criteria:

  1. Newly established
  2. Target a highly competitive and/or commercial industry
  3. Have attempted optimization, especially link building

The reported sandbox period is extremely variable; ranging from 3 months to indefinite, the typical range though seems around 6-9 months, and one Google engineer has reportedly stated the actual range is 6-12 months. Many have observed that the period appears to correlate with industry competitiveness/popularity, with the most popular and commercial industries having the longest “probation” period. Can I escape from the sandbox in weeks ? Check this blog out here and I found that it has been escape!

I have been trying all

SeoContest2008, Day 03 : Sinking in Sandbox

It’s gone ! OMG. Six feet under sinking in Google sandbox. It just listed in Google SERP yesterday and got raising each hour until this morning it was in 20th position for seocontest2008 term. Few hours later, it’s gone !

Some people said that it is normally affects to newly established blogs, where these blogs are ranked far lower in the search engine ranking than they supposedly to be for a few months or longer. So, it is not caused by my wordpress machine!

I should find any way to escape from this situation soon as time goes run. I have been facing this matter many times to my other blogs. The first think I should do usually when I met this matter is using Google related links.

Pogung, one of my friend that joining seocontest2008 competition also faced this matter few days ago. Now he has break away from that situation.

The only thing I can do is waiting now … Quick - quick - quick digging, break away, up …

Why WordPress for this SEOContest2008 ?

seocontest2008I this chance I would like to tell you why do I have to love to WordPress and use this machine in every blog I created. More valuable aspect of WordPress is its built-in moderation feature. Dvorak on his blog ever wrote that there was a unique buzz about it telling me that this was the future of blogging software.

Wordpress is an amazing blogging tool. Wordpress installation was a breeze - 30 seconds flat. Even if your host doesn’t have Fantastico - there are very detailed, step by step instructions for an install which should take about 5 minutes. One of the best things about WordPress is that there are thousands of wonderful and completely free widgets and plugins. They are extremely easy to install. Setting up a blog with Wordpress.com is supposedly easier than self-hosting, but the level of knowledge required to get Wordpress.org software up and running is minimal, so if you have a host and are chosing between the two options - I’d strongly recommend going with the self-hosted version - you get lots of flexibility and it is just so easy.
